Sweater season is upon us ladies and gentlemen. Here in Los Angeles, it doesn’t take much to break out the knits. Any sign of a cool breeze and temperatures in the 70s is good enough for us. Of course, lightweight sweaters are best which is why I love ponchos and similar free flowing garments. They allow me the ability to rock Fall styles even in warmer weather.
One thing that is my style “secret” if you will are stretchy belts. During the Fall in particular, there are many garments that are meant to fit looser and wider. While I love these styles, I don’t think that they always do my body favors. When tops don’t have structure, the way that they lay is dictated by what part of the body protrudes the most. Since I’m a busty girl, it often causes the garment to flow further away from my body which is not ideal. The solution to this is to define the waist by cinching it with a belt. It not only provides an added style element but it also adjusts the garment to better suit your shape. Remember, it’s all about making fashion work for you.
Check out the outfit details below. I’ve added some different options, different styles and different price points to recreate your own look.

Kristine great tip, I never thought about using a belt to provide definition to a loose top or dress. Thanks
