I always joke that shoulders are the new cleavage. It sounds funny to say but I actually stand by that statement. As the weather starts to warm up and the days get a little longer, one of my favorite styles to wear is the off-the-shoulder top. It’s feminine and gives a hint of skin to keep things interesting. It can make even the most basic outfit look more chic and stylish.
Balance, in my opinion, is key when styling your looks. I believe this concept was shared with me by my mom but it is essentially creating harmony to your outfit. For example, if you are showing a good amount of skin on top, then you wear pants or a longer skirt on the bottom to balance it out. Same goes for it your wearing something form-fitting on top, you wear a looser garment on the bottom. Of course, these are more guidelines than an actual “rule” because there are definitely exceptions. However, it provides a good starting point.
Taking that same philosophy, I paired this fitted off-the-shoulder top with a flowy, pleated skirt that I picked up at Macy’s. I not only loved the colors but the style as well. It’s a great transition piece from Winter to Spring that you can pair with knee high boots, booties, pump and even sandals. So, no matter what the weather, you will be able to dress accordingly.
Check out the outfit details below as well as some other pleated skirts that I am loving at the moment!

You look absolutely amazing love! Thank you for sharing and being such a beautiful inspiration!!!!
Thank you SO much!
Kristine,
You look beautiful in that skirt. I ordered it after looking at your pictures 🙂 Can you please recommend some light hold shapewear to wear under skirts? I have a large mid section and could use some help in that area.

Thanks so much! I hope you love it. And yes, I can recommend shape wear. You can see some of my favorites here: https://trendycurvy.com/2019/01/27/shape-it-up/https://trendycurvy.com/2019/01/27/shape-it-up/
Kristine, I love seeing you in all of your different outfits that give me ideas on how to wear parts of my wardrobe. I’ve always admired beautiful prints on other women but always thought my hip/stomach area were just too large to wear them personally. Today, you changed my mind! I ordered that skirt, already have an off the shoulder black top and pink pumps. With a little help from my foundation piece spring is ready for me this year!! Not the other way around. Thanks Kristine!!
That is so wonderful to hear Anita! I am so happy that I’m able to push you out of your comfort zone a bit and I hope that it pays off. Thanks so much for your message and for your kind words. Take care! xoxo
I do love you in bright and bold colors, Kristine! I really love that skirt, the cut is fantastic and the print is freaking divine. Another outfit that you just slay effortlessly.
Thank you Gigi!
Love how you wore this skirt!
