Plus size women wearing crop tops has been quite a controversial topic. There are many opinions about whether we can or really if we should be wearing these types of things. For many years, fashion publications and the media have said that crop tops are not flattering for our bodies. One publication in response to the question if someone could pull off a crop top responded “If (and only if!) you have a flat stomach, feel free to try one.” Luckily, much of the conversation surrounding limitations of plus size fashion has shifted but there still are lingering misconceptions. So let’s clear this up once and for all!
Can Plus Sizes Wear Crop Tops?
I mean, do you really need me to answer this question? The answer is yes! No matter what your size or shape, you can absolutely wear a crop top. Now, how you decide to rock it based on what you’re most comfortable with is up to you. But there is no reason why any plus size woman should be excluded from this style.
Ways to Wear Plus Size Crop Tops
There are so many different ways that you can rock a plus size crop top. It doesn’t have to show a lot of your midsection if you don’t want it to. You can dictate how much or how little based on your comfort level. For me, I like to show a little sliver of my tummy so I opt to rock my crop tops with high waist garments. Pencil skirts with elastic waistbands make the perfect pairing because you can pull it up or down and it will stay in place. I’ve done this many times before with this matching crochet set and this fun striped top and black pencil skirt. Another way that I love to style crop tops is by putting a blazer on with it as I did with this look. Longer blazers help to provide some covering and really make the look appear more elevated.
Lastly, if you would prefer to pair your plus size crop top with something a little less fitted on the bottom, you can opt for a midi skirt. These skirts naturally sit higher on your waist and flow away from your body. You really don’t have to show any of your midsection at all and can still get the crop top look. These are only some of the ways that you can rock your crop but the main point is that you can wear them.
In true TrendyCurvy fashion, whenever there is some limitation put on what I can wear, I not only debunk it but I do it in a big way. Along with rocking my crop top, I decided to have a little fun with it by mixing up the prints. It not only adds a unique element to the look but it stands out which is exactly what I wanted to do. With a pink pump to finish it off, my mixed print, pop of color, plus size crop top look was complete!

Always classy and informative at the same time. Kristine you gave us several options on how to wear the crop top and you showed us how to try them out. The media may try to discourage plus size women but you always prove them to be liars when it comes to fashion and style. Keep it up.
