Lilac was named the official color of the season by many notable fashion publications. So of course with my blog having trendy in the name, I had to follow the trend. Lilac and pastel colors are nothing new for Spring but like all trends, they come back around in new and exciting ways. This color has exploded onto the market being offered in jackets, dresses, jumpsuits and more making it the “it” hue of the moment. We know as plus size women that it’s not always easy to follow what’s popular simply because it’s not readily available in our sizes. So when I saw this skirt from Eva Mendes’ line at New York & Company, needless to say I jumped on it.
This skirt is not plus size but because it is a sweater like material, it is very plus size friendly. Plus they go up to an XXL which is the equivalent to about a size 20. While subtle, it is such a feminine and pretty color that is perfect for the season. I wanted to keep the palette light and bright so I paired it with a white off the shoulder top and taupe heels. It’s minimalist and simple yet chic. You can also do a monochromatic look with this matching top also from the line. Whatever way you decide to style it, the important thing to note is that we don’t have to be excluded from trends. We can make styles work for us and this is a perfect example of that.
