This Summer, I have been encouraging you all to step out of your comfort zones and try something new. Everything from that swimsuit that you have been scared to wear in public to those bright colors that we have for so long been told that we should stay away from. So I thought that it was only right that I push my own limits and put my money where my mouth is.
When I saw this drop waist midi skirt from ASOS, I passed right over it because it’s not a style that I typically wear. I have worn plenty of midi skirts on my blog however, this particular one was not like the others. It is a high waist design with the pleats on the torso sewn down to create an exaggerated waistline. Most pleated midi skirts fan out from the hips and cinch the smallest part of your waist. This skirt is more of an A-line style which means that the silhouette is in the shape of the letter “A”. The widest part is at the very bottom and the waist/hip area remains fairly straight.
Although this style is not my typical aesthetic, something kept bringing me back to it. So I told myself “just order it and see what happens”. Well (spoiler alert) I loved it! The bubblegum pink is so feminine and the pleated bottom just sways in the wind. All I needed to add was an off the shoulder top & nude accessories and this look was complete!
Fashion is meant to be fun and exciting so don’t be afraid to try new things. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results.
